Transformation is as Simple as Putting Gas in a New Car

Transformation is as Simple as Putting Gas in a New Car
Recently during a session with a private coaching client, we were talking about his new way of being and the process of transformation in his life. He is sincerely devoted to being more in flow, more relaxed and creative and not getting stuck in his default, analytical way of thinking (this is all being shared with his permission of course).
At one point during our conversation he said, “Jason, this transformation is going to be HARD work”.
And that’s when it hit me. I have seen that most of us (including me at certain times) think that growth, development and sustainable transformation in our lives has to be heavy and full of pressure or it means it won’t stick.
It is like we think that it doesn’t seem fair that such a big shift in our lives would come from a place of ease, gentleness and simple practice.
It goes along with conventional (prisoner) wisdom that says, “Life is hard!”
But life being hard is not my truth and when I believe that it is, I am not being served; I am not able to show up as my best self, I am not choosing to be a self-leader.
As challenging as situations may get (and they do get challenging), I refuse to give in to anything about our lives being permanent or pervasive.
So in that moment, in that coaching session, a thought occurred to me that I hoped would be a more effective and lighter way to view this courageous journey that my client has committed himself to be a part of.
It resonated with him quite a bit and I’m hoping it does the same for you.
After you watch, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below – how can you be gentle when putting gas in your new car?
Lots of love,
Jason “JG” Goldberg
