My Number One Tool To Be More Productive

Hey all you Creatives and Creators, This is Jason Goldberg and YOU are watching MEometryTV, THE place to be to yearn more, learn more and earn more from your life and business!

Today I am going to reveal the number one productivity tool I have found that makes me get more done that I’ve ever done before.  Now let me preface this quickly.  I am a textbook multitasker.  I start a project and then within 5, 10, 20 minutes or so, my monkey mind kicks in or I hear the email ding and before I know it I’m 30 minutes into responding to emails or checking social media or making notes for another project I want to work on.  The problem is, that whether the things you are ‘tasking are productive or not, they ultimately LOWER your ability to get things done well OR sometimes at all.

Think of it this way.  Have you ever been walking and texting at the same time.  In my experience, I either text perfectly and end up walking so slow that it looks like I’m breaking in new feet OR I keep my brisk walking pace but end up texting my wife that “I lump her glow munch”.  The point is, your brain does better when its focused singularly on a specific task.

So, ready for the big reveal. TADA, it’s a watch! Ok, well I don’t use a watch, I use my iPhone’s built in time feature and set it for an hour.  I then work SOLELY on THAT ONE project until the buzzer goes off.

No breaks, no facebook’ing or tweeting or emails or phone calls for that hour.  I put away any other paperwork, close other applications on my ‘puter, and clear away anything not SPECIFICALLY related to the task at hand.  I even take it a step further to build up my resistance to impulse, I won’t silence my phone. Now I don’t recommend this for everyone but for me, I’ll let the dings come in for emails and the phone ring and I purposely ignore them which, at least for me, reminds me to stay my focused and dedicated to the task at hand and teaches me to start ignoring the inevitable distractions that you don’t have control over.

Then when the buzzer goes off, you can make a choice.  You can set the timer again for another 30 minutes or an hour for the same task or take a quick break and then move onto the next one.

So that’s it, give it a try and as you know, we yearn, learn and earn exponentially more when we share our gifts with each other.  I want to hear from you, so leave a comment below to let me know how this worked for you and what tools you use to stay focused and productive in the midst of all the crazy demands we have in our lives.  If you loved this video, please be sure to share it with your friends and don’t forget to head over to MEometry.com to sign up for exclusive email updates and to get insights that I only share with my most engaged peeps!
